Your Captain

Captain Tony

Captain Tony is a USCG licensed captain with over 40 years of sailing experience. Owner of many sailboats during his lifetime he has over 10,000 miles of sailing experience. Originally from Michigan, he cut his sailing teeth on the Great Lakes. After moving to North Carolina 30 years ago he has plied the North Carolina waters and beyond. This includes sailing Europe, Africa, the Caribbean, and a trans-Atlantic crossing, originating in Scotland.

Before Captain Tony made the transition to full time sailor, he earned his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Michigan State. In addition to Captain Tony’s passion for sailing, he also has a love of wine and food. So much so he decided to open and manage a wine shop in Raleigh, to share this penchant and educate patrons on the many nuances of wine.  Captain Tony learned how to cook from his sister who is a classically trained French chef.  He loves preparing lunch for his Cape Lookout charters and sailing class students.

Captain Tony has done many hundreds of charters over the years and says it never gets old.  He loves meeting new guests and seeing repeat customers year after year.  Every charter on the Crystal Coast is like the first time – amazement, wonder and joy from the wildlife, sealife and gorgeous sunsets, unlike anything else he’s experienced sailing in other parts of the world.

Working Together

We take pride in providing our guests with the highest customer service in the industry. Your charter team will consist of Captain Tony, his first mate, Julia and our beloved long- haired mini dachshund, Marco.  Captain Tony will not only operate the vessel but also entertain, call out historic landmarks and points of interest, and of course make sure you are safe at all times. The crew member helps with docking, sail handling, serves food, beverages, takes pictures for you, and caters to your every need.  Marco loves everyone he meets and will gladly soak up any attention you’re willing to give him.  Your team works extremely hard to make sure your experience is one that you will remember for a lifetime.
